מר לי הונג-ג'י, מייסד הפאלון דאפא (פאלון גונג), הציג את השיטה לציבור ב-13 במאי 1992.

25 שנה עברו, והפאלון דאפא התפשט לחמש יבשות והתקבל בחום על ידי אנשים מיותר מ-100 ארצות ואזורים.

הפעם הראשונה שיום הפאלון דאפא נחגג היה ב-13 במאי 2000, חודשים ספורים בלבד לאחר שהונחתה בסין הרדיפה נגד מתרגלי השיטה ביולי 1999. השנה היא השנה ה-18 לחגיגות יום הפאלון דאפא העולמי, והשנה ה-25 להצגת הפאלון דאפא לציבור.

מתרגלים של השיטה מכל העולם שלחו ברכות לאתר מינג-הווי לאחל למאסטר לי יום הולדת שמח ולהביע את הוקרתם והכרת התודה שלהם.
